Change invoice days in procedure (DIP)
Days in Procedure (DIP) tracks how long an invoice has been in the collections process. As DIP increases, the invoice progresses through procedure steps - for example, from a first reminder to a second reminder to a phone call. You can manually adjust the DIP of individual invoices directly from the account record.
Steps
- Search for the invoice you want to update.
- On the account record, find the invoice under Overview outstanding documents.
- Select the pencil icon in the Days in procedure column.
- Revise the number and then press Enter.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I disable DIP accrual on weekends?
If you do not want DIP to accrue over the weekend, go to Settings, select the relevant company, and select Update days in procedure only on working days.
I imported past-due invoices. Why were the days in procedure not adjusted?
When past-due invoices are first uploaded to Collections, DIP is automatically set to 1. This ensures that overdue invoices complete the regular procedure sequence in order. A higher DIP could trigger later steps in the procedure - for example, an account might receive a second reminder without having received a first one.
Can I change DIP in bulk?
Yes. Contact the Billtrust Support team and provide the following information:
- The criteria of the documents you want to adjust - for example: all accounts of sub-company X with total outstanding greater than 0, all documents in procedure step “telephone 2” (between 20–30 days).
- The DIP you want to establish - for example: all documents matching criteria X should have DIP of Y.
