Dun & Bradstreet

This guide provides information needed to configure Dun & Bradstreet for Credit Application.

Prerequisites

  • License: Customers must have a license for the D&B Toolkit. No other license type will work. Billtrust is not acting as a reseller.
  • Credentials: In order to setup D&B in the system, we need the following information from the customer:
    • Username
    • Password
  • Product Supported: We are currently available to retrieve three types of D&B data:
    • Decision Support Data
    • Enterprise Management Data
    • Quick Check Data
    • Comprehensive Report
    • D&B Business Information Report

Instructions

  1. Navigate to the External Provider Page in the Credit Application
    1. Login to Credit Application as an Admin or All Access user.
    2. Select System Settings and navigate to View All Settings.
    3. Select External Provider Configuration.
  2. Select Add New Provider.
  3. Select D&B from the list of available providers.

The window to enter your credentials opens.

  4. Enter credentials and click verify.

    NOTE

If the credentials have been entered incorrectly or if D&B hasn’t activated the license yet, you will be presented with an invalid credentials message and will need to reenter the credentials or confirm that the D&B license is active.

  5. Search and Company tabs do not require set up and can be skipped.
  6. Select Credit Decision Data tab.
  7. Select system to pull data manually or automatically.

This page also shows the data points that are being retrieved from Experian and displayed in the application.

    NOTE

It is recommended to configure for manual data pulls initially to ensure that our customer is being charged by D&B the way they expect to be charged.

  8. Select the Product Type:
    1. Decision Support
    2. Enterprise Management
    3. Quick Check

The table below shows the data that will be presented in the application for each data type.

  9. Select Credit Profile Report tab to configure the report type and report format.

  10. Select desired report.

  11. Select PDF.

  12. Select Save.

Retrieve data from Experian

  1. Customers set up for automatic credit pulls can retrieve data from the credit app when open.

  2. Customers set up for manual (recommended) credit pulls need to click Get Data.

  3. Select View Credit Profile to retrieve a Credit Profile Report from D&B. A new window opens with the report. Both the data and report can be refreshed at any time.

  4. Once the application has been decisioned, the data cannot be refreshed anymore and a pdf version the credit report (at the time of decisioning) is saved to attachments in the customer view of the credit application.

  5. IMPORTANT

For existing customers that have open applications (Initiated, In Process, In Review):

Only Credit Applications that are initiated after D&B was implemented will automatically have the DUNS Number available in the application so that credit data and the credit report can be pulled manually or automatically.

For open applications, the credit user will need to manually enter the DUNS Number into the credit application while reviewing so that they can manually pull credit data and/or reports.
